Oh the Model D

I just got back from the Lisa Vroman concert. (Christine in Phantom and Cosette/Eponine in Les Mis...) It was a great concert. Although, the sound sucked, it was just unbearably loud at times. But she sounded great as did everyone else that performed.

At crane we have many concert grand Steinways, all of which are different and have different uses. The piano for this evening's concert was probably the oldest, and therefore has the mellowest sound, which is why I'm assuming they picked it for this, less classical of venues. At any rate, its not in the best of visual shape. Many dings. And most of us are use to seeing the brand new one, so thisis very striking. About half way through, dear Alyssa leans over to me and sarcastically remaks, "Geez, I'm glad they brought out the nice piano for this concert." I nod in sarcastic agreement, she proceeds to say: "Oh my god, I mean, it looks like a dog chewed on it!" I laughed really, really hard. It was funny to begin with, but then I started visualizing a dog walking out and it lieing next to one of the legs and start knawing during the concert. "My favorite toy," thinks the dog...

At any rate, I'm in a much improved mood now, than I was at the beginning of the week. I had a lot of things due, and I got them done, so it's nice to have those things off my mind. I also decided not to submit my proposal for that project. Wednesday morning in the shower, I was like "Robert, you're dumb...don't hate yourself later." I think I made the right choice. Focus on what I have to do now, and do it well!

Speaking of which, I'm auditioning for a masterclass with Nathan Gunn tomorrow. (See website: http://www.nathangunn.com/) He's quite the performer right now, so this would be a great experience. Regardless of whether or not I'm selected, I'm just really happy that he's coming and that I'll get to see him perform. And, even if I don't get in, I'll still get to see him work with others, and I'm sure that will be very rewarding also. (But, it'd be really nice to work with him myself!)

New Google tool I've tried out: Google Web Accelerator. I'd give it a whirl, seems to do a good job of speeding things along and doesn't tax your RAM or anything. Plus, there's virtually no setup involved. Google is so great.

Looking forward to going home next weekend, it will be a nice rest.
